Axita Gupta’s work takes the edge off the oil shock.
Gupta has done a lot, since she worked as an intern and later was hired by Kerogen Exploration, LLC. The shale oil exploration firm operates in the US and Canada.
Her greatest shock as a geologist was the oil price crash and watching so many people lose their jobs, which gives her an advantage in experience when the industry recovers.
While a student intern, she did reconnaissance study of what has a mouthful of a name, the Midland Basin Wolfcamp/Cline Shale Horizontal Oil Play in West Texas.
Since then, the holder of a both an MS in Geology and a BS in Environmental Science from Louisiana State University has worked in the South Florida Basin. Gupta explores for petroleum potential in the Sunniland Reef Play, and Lower Cretaceous Play oil patches, and assists the engineers, a geophysicist, and landmen, also known as oil workers, and supervises and trains new geology interns.
Gupta’s geekiest feature is diving ultra-deep into research, which is a plus when something beneficial is found accidentally. On the non-geeky side, she is an fan of traditional Indian henna design, and will zone out listening to music, acrylic painting, or cooking if she is bored.
