Will it turn out that humans, on Earth, are not special all-by-ourselves beings?
The Christian Science Monitor reported, and the journal Astrobiology suggested so recently in an astrophysical paper titled, A New Empirical Constraint on the Prevalence of Technological Species in the Universe.
The Astrobiolgy conclusion is based upon studying exoplanets, planets that orbit a sun other than the one earth does.
The Christian Science Monitor says the researchers “found that the chances that a human civilization evolved on Earth and nowhere else in the universe are less than about one in 10 billion trillion.”
