Engineers Discover a New Way to Boil Water. Really!
Sciencedaily.com reports that Oregon State University (OSU) College of Engineering researchers have created a novel way to boil water with a technology that will “control the formation and release of bubbles.”
The technique could increase the viability and longevity of electronic devices, including those used in solar energy, lasers, radars, or large industrial boilers. Essentially, “anywhere it’s necessary to dissipate high heat levels,” says OSU.
An OSU press release says OSU has filed a patent application and the engineering advancement, Large-scale Generation of Patterned Bubble Arrays on Printed Bi-functional Boiling Surfaces, is published in Scientific Reports, part of Nature.com.
