There’s a Weasel in My Collider
Once again, an animal doing its thing has disrupted The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator in Geneva, Switzerland.
The LHC costs is a 16.8 mile ring of superconducting magnets with accelerating structures where two energy particle beams collide at near light speed.
Why? BBC explains. Essentially, The LHC helps explain how the universe works.
BBC.com reports that the weasel entered a 66 Kilovolt transformer. The intruder then chewed a casing until both it and the casing were toast. In 2009, a bird was suspected of dropping something into the LHC and shutting it down. The LHC may be online again in a few weeks.
Check out LHC Rap video. It pairs horrible dancing with fresh light speed particle rhymes.
