STEM Mavens Who Teach Others the Code for Success

Martinez is a Partner at Real World React. It is a San Francisco Meetup group related to React, an open source JavaScript library for building user interfaces.

Since early 2015, Martinez has also been the Chief Technology Officer at Free Code Camp. Its motto is Learn to code and help nonprofits. Since the group’s founding in 2014, it has donated $850,000 of pro-bono code, and pledged $85,000 to nonprofits.

Free Code Camp participants have also earned more than 1,600 Front End, 118 Data Visualization, 109 Back End, and 41 certifications in all three areas.

Previously, Martinez, was the Webmaster of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapter in San Francisco. He says, “I fell in love with JavaScript and Web Development,” after receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering from San Francisco State University.

He has also been a Full Stack JavaScript Consultant for R3DM, a provider of technology strategy, design, and development services, since 2014.
